The Space Foundation is taking steps to assess the space related impacts of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) on companies in the space industry. A key part of this endeavor is an ITAR compliance survey designed for executives and program managers.
This survey, commissioned by the Space Foundation, is designed to acquire tangible information, such as financial and personnel costs and programmatic delays, to better characterize the effect of ITAR regulations. The goal is to capture credible, concrete data on ITAR costs and impacts to serve as an authoritative reference for discussions on ITAR modernization.

The Space Foundation also recently joined Coalition for Security and Competitiveness, consisting of a broad-based group of organizations and associations from space and other industries who are interested in modernizing the export controls process and regime.
