Space Foundation Elects New Members to Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of the Space Foundation recently elected Ms. Barbara M. Barrett , Mr. Martin C. Faga and Mr. Elon Musk as new members of the board. Mr. Lon Levin, chief strategic officer, Transformational Space Corp., and co-founder of XM Satellite Radio, was elected to a two-year term as Treasurer of the Board.
The Honorable Robert S. Walker, chairman, Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates, continues to serve as Chairman of the Board. Gen Thomas S. Moorman, Jr., USAF (Retired), vice president, Booz Allen Hamilton, is Vice Chairman and Dr. William F. Ballhaus, Jr., president and chief executive officer, The Aerospace Corporation, is Secretary.
Ms. Barrett is president and chief executive officer, Triple Creek Ranch. For more than 25 years, she has been involved in international business and aviation and applies her vast experience serving on many boards and committees. Barrett is chair of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy and was the first woman deputy administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration. Before she was 30, she was an officer and executive of two Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Faga is a former president and chief executive officer of The MITRE Corporation. From 1989 until 1993 he served as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space and as Director of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). He was also appointed to the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and to the Public Interest Declassification Board.
Mr. Musk is chairman and chief executive officer of the Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX), which he founded. Musk also is the co-founder of PayPal and Zip2 Corporation.
After completing their terms of service, Dr. Guion S. Bluford, Jr., president, Aerospace Technology Group; Dr. Jaleh Daie, managing partner, Aurora Equity, LLC; and Gen. John L. "Pete" Piotrowski, USAF (Retired), former vice president, Science Applications International Corporation, were each elected to the honorary position of Life Director.

Space Foundation names new manager of communication and media relations
The Space Foundation named Kendra S. Horn manager of communication and media relations. From the Space Foundation's Headquarters in Colorado Springs, Horn will lead the Space Foundation's internal and external communications efforts in advancing civil, commercial and national security space and the Foundation's education activities.
Since 2005, Horn has served as manager of government affairs in the Space Foundation's Washington, D.C. office. Prior to joining the Space Foundation, she worked on Capitol Hill as press secretary for Congressman Brad Carson. Horn's previous experience also includes practicing law in the areas of international trade, transactional, and business matters.
Horn earned a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Tulsa. Horn also studied at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France.

Sponsorship opportunities for the fifth annual Space Career Fair are still available to interested companies! Conducted in conjunction with the 23rd National Space Symposium, the Space Career Fair, which attracts undergraduate and graduate science, technology, engineering, mathematics and business administration students students as well as transitioning military personnel, will be held at The Broadmoor on April 12, 2007. More than 500 highly qualified applicants are anticipated.
