Educating the workforce of the future: Enough talk, time for action

President & Chief Executive Officer

Hardly a week goes by without some ominous pronouncement about the state of education in the United States, how other nations are surpassing us in developing their workforce and their technology base, and the dire consequences for our industry and our nation if we do not take action. The Glenn Commission, the Walker Commission, the Moon-to-Mars Commission, and the recent Augustine Commission ("The Gathering Storm" report) have all concluded that the future of the republic is in jeopardy. High tech titans like Bill Gates and Craig Barrett have issued similar warnings.

Space Foundation certifies chiropractic product

Spinal care technology developed for astronauts is now available for better chiropractic care. The Space Foundation has awarded the Chiropractic Leadership Alliance (CLA) exclusive certification for the Insight Subluxation Station (tm) as a Certified Space Technology (tm). The Insight technology is a neurospinal screening and evaluation system that uses surface electromyography (SEMG) technology originally designed to measure the effects of space on the spines of space shuttle astronauts.

CLA continued the development of the system into the commercially available model available for chiropractic care. Chiropractors use the Insight to help identify misalignments of the spine. The Insight Subluxation Station provides graphical images of the spine and specifies precisely when chiropractors should adjust their patients, allowing for increased accuracy in diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes. For more information about the Space Certification Program, visit www.SpaceConnection.org. For more information about the Insight Subluxation Station, visit www.subluxation.com.

Space Foundation plans participation at the International Space Pavilion at Farnborough

The Farnborough International Airshow 2006, in cooperation with America's and England's leading space industry associations, the Space Foundation, and the UK Industrial Space Committee (UKISC), will present the second International Space Pavilion (ISP) – an entire exhibit hall dedicated to the products, projects, and professionals in the space industry. The ISP delivers an excellent business forum for the most influential companies within the space industry. The show is scheduled July 17-23, 2006, in Farnborough, England.

Acknowledging the growing importance of space programs and systems to civil, commercial and military capabilities in the air, on land, and at sea, these organizations are working with the European Space Agency (ESA), and the British National Space Centre (BNSC) to ensure that the ISP in 2006 reflects the latest industry developments, housing an exciting array of new technologies within the space sector, hosting cutting edge speakers, showcasing more features and delivering an increased number of exhibitors and visitors from across the globe.

To reserve exhibit space and order a stand, please contact Gerri Cozic at Kallman Worldwide, gerric@kallman.com or 201-251-2600, ext. 105. Kallman is the official coordinator of the U.S. Pavilion at Farnborough.

The Space Foundation is working with Kallman Worldwide to make it affordable for a company of any size to participate. Space Foundation Corporate Member companies seeking a presence in the ISP can purchase a kiosk that will be incorporated into the Space Foundation's own exhibit if they are unable to attend and exhibit for themselves. For general information about U.S. exhibitor participation in the ISP, please contact Chuck Zimkas at the Space Foundation, 719-576-8000, ext. 130 or chuck@spacefoundation.org.
